What is vacuum forming?

Thermoforming is a manufacturing process that is commonly used to produce large parts, such as automotive body panels, recreational vehicle exteriors, and aircraft components.

These large parts are typically made from sheets or rolls of plastic material that are heated until they are pliable, formed into the desired shape using a mold, and trimmed to create the finished product. The size of the parts that can be produced using thermoforming is limited by the size of the heating element, the size of the mold, and the capacity of the vacuum system. In general, larger parts will require more time to heat and form, and may also require additional support during the forming process to prevent sagging or distortion.

At CandK plastics we can make parts up to 16' long.
